RE: Tire recommendations for tow vehicle...updated!!

Does anyone have experience with Nitto Tires? Specifically the Nitto Dura Grappler LT245/75R16 E 120R 3042@80 LT285/75R16 E 126R 3750@80 I have stock 245/75R16s on my 2006 Chevy Crew Cab 4x4. I think I can go up to the 285s without any issues. I just put a set of the Nitto Terra Grapplers on my 05 2500 HD with the stock forged alum rims. I went 285 75 16 E rated. These replaced some 285 75 16 D rated BFG AT's. So far so good, they ride well on the highway and are pretty quiet. My first time pulling will be next week. They were consdierably less $$ than the BFG's and my neighbor who owns a tire shop recommended them over the BFG's for the value. We will see how well they hold up.

RE: Pingel chocks

I mounted mine to a 12" x 24" piece of 3/4 plywood. With four tie downs, two on the handle bars and two on the rear sub frame of my mx bikes, it is all I need to keep them stable. Sometimes I go out with 5 bikes, some times I go out with 3 bikes and two quads, other times I only have 3 bikes. I can move the chocks around where ever I like with this set up. They are totally stable and have never had any issues in over two years of using this set up. I would only recommend this for dirt bikes however.

RE: WW top bunk safety

We make our 7 and 9 year olds sleep with their heads towards the end of the trailer. Yep this is what we do as well. No chance of anyone falling out this way.

RE: Memorial Weekend & So Cal Weather

We bailed on Pismo and went to Cal City instead. Temps were in the high 60's, low 70's and partly clody. Very few people out there as well. We rode 6 hours each day and didn't pass any other riders all weekend. It was the best time we have had out there in years.

RE: Lost Keys

The outside compartments on all tt's use the same key - CH 751. I have about 10 extra of these, I can send you one if you want. I had a bad door lock on my WW and ordered a new door handle with lock directly from WW for about $60 a few years ago. The new handle came with 2 new keys.

RE: How much off MSRP is good for a Ww 5er

I was able to get 25% off from Giant RV on my WW. It was not easy to get this price however. After an hour of negotiation I was walking out the door when the owner came up and asked me what it would take to make the deal that day. I held firm at 25% and he agreed.

RE: Cal City This Weekend-Winds?

Hi all, I'm a New Englander who got caught in those wind near Mojave early this week. I've never seen anything like it, worse than our Nor'Easters. I barely made it from Ridgecrest to Mojave, they closed 14 as I got to Mojave. I was on business so no towing, had a Durango. You desert guys must be one with your weather guys. I posted a picture on general forums http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/20470880.cfm Cheers, and good luck! Leslie Just how high were the winds?

RE: Cal City This Weekend-Winds?

I've been checking weather.com for the past two days,we're heading out to Stoddard tomorrow morning and weather is looking good for the area ,check weather.com and input Cal city in the search Weather.com Cal City forecast is what has us worried. They are calling for 20-25 mph winds all weekend.

Cal City This Weekend-Winds?

We are packed and ready to head out later tonight but looking at the weather forcast I am concenred with the high wind warnings, especially on Sunday when we plan to return. 25 mph plus winds worry me when towing a 28' tag along trailer, even more so since reading about the wrecks on the 14 and 58 around Mojave this week. Any else concerned and for you high desert guys, what are you hearing about the winds this weekeend?

RE: Two wheeler for my boy. What does your kid ride ??

My 11 year old daughter went from a CRF 70 to a KLX 110 to a CRF 100 to an RM 85 in less than 3 years. She out rode the suspension on all of the four strokes. I recently purchased a used 2004 RM 85 and it included a Devol lowering link which lowers the bike 1.5" so the height is perfect for her now. The RM power valve motor is easier to ride than the Honda or Yamaha 85's and the suspension is light years ahead of any of the trail bike 4 strokes like the CRF 100 and weighs 30 lb less. I would look seriously at a used 2 stroke for your son.
